Nelson Developments specialises in the refurbishment of small commercial spaces such as offices, bars and restaurants and hotels. When they won a project to re-furbish an old county practice to provide office space for an accountancy firm they knew they needed a reliable flooring partner to work with on the project.
“I met Mandy, the Director of Rivendell, through networking and had heard a number of her success stories and how hard the Rivendell team work to accommodate their clients’ needs. Knowing I could trust Rivendell to take the hassle away, they were my first choice of flooring partner.” Will
How did we help?
Nelson Developments were tasked with redeveloping the office of an old county house that now served as an office for a professional services business, which needed a complete design overhaul.
Our team was tasked to work alongside the developer’s appointed interior designer who had already drawn up plans for the transformation of the office space and already had some idea of what suitable flooring requirements were.
Choosing the right flooring
We met with the developer and the interior designer to get a full brief and talk through the vision for the building. The accountancy firm needed to create a usable welcoming space for its employees. We understand that first impressions really count and the overall design and layout of an office does have an impact on how clients view your company. With this in mind, the choice of flooring needed to create a timeless, classic look that gave the office a professional and prestigious ambience.
The reception area and hall was floored in luxury vinyl tiles (LVT) a more durable and affordable option for wood flooring. We chose the Himalayan Pinpoint from flooring manufacturer’s, Forbo, Allura range, which gave a modern, fresh take on a wooden floor. LVT is an extremely durable material that adds light and depth to large spaces.
We opted to put carpet down in the main area and for this veered away from a standard office carpet to use Touch & Tones carpet tiles in neutral grey by Interface. These man-made tiles are very textured and soft and are a modern take on a traditional shaggy carpet with a thick pile and lovely texture, lending an air of luxury.
Working together
As with any project involving lots of different partners, there were some delays along the way, which meant that the installation of the flooring had to be delayed. In the end we fitted the entire flooring in three days. As a small team we can be very flexible on timing and always try to work with the client.
A message from Nelson Developments
“Rivendell were incredibly flexible with their timing and the office team were always on the ball, working hard to accommodate our needs. They worked with us rather than against us, with a can-do attitude that is an absolute must to completing any challenging project. Tom, our Site Manager, was very happy with the way the Rivendell fitters worked. They were always very efficient and tidied up as they went along and helped us deliver our project.
“I would definitely recommend Rivendell to any property developer, looking for a reliable flooring fitter to help you deliver on time and within budget.”
