Make Over Your Home This Spring
January 22, 2015 1:19 pmDespite the ‘big freeze’ hitting us throughout January, the nights are getting lighter and we will soon be able to leave behind our bobble hats and scarves in favour of shorts and sunglasses. So what better way to embrace the arrival of Spring and its warmer days than by giving your home a seasonal face lift?
We would therefore like to share with you some of the new carpet and flooring products on offer, as well as some general interior trends making the headlines for early 2015.
Add A Touch Of Texture To Your Living Space
This Spring the way we envision wood and laminate is changing as a major trend in textures throughout your home moves forward. We are likely to see an increased interest in faux fur blankets and patterned ethnic textiles in homes across the country. But here at Rivendell we are particularly interested in the addition of warm toned woods in the form of featured walls and renovated furniture.
One of our favourite flooring manufacturers have bought us their new Décor Spectrum range proving that wood isn’t limited to just your floors. Their Melamine Faced Boards deliver scratch and impact resistance in more than 200 creative patterns. The Laminate selection continues a theme of texture with a real to touch feel. This new Kaindl range with its fantastic natural décor patterns for innovative surfaces is great for both your home or office. Why don’t you have a look at our recycled flooring ideas for even more inspiration.
If you’d prefer to stick to traditional wooden floors don’t worry, Kaindl offer both real wood and laminate solutions which are both contemporary and innovative.
Stripes Are Making A Comeback
Just as fashion circulates years later so does interior design, proving that nothing really goes out of style for long. And this season’s spring trends are no different as we are see an increasing resurge in striped carpets. Alternative Flooring supply a number of excellent striped ranges such as their Wool Blocstripe, Wool Pinstripe and the less subtle but equally fantastic Rock ‘n’ Roll range.
The striped carpet essentially creates an optical illusion of a larger room in your home. For this reason we see many homeowners choosing to install stripes in their hallways and up their stairs. With these carpet collections you are able to elongate the appearance of your corridor and add the illusion of height.
Whilst we understand that these designs might not be for everyone, they certainly provide a bold statement for the more audacious.
Play With Pastels
For those of us who prefer more subtle colour, the trends of Spring 2015 are exactly what you would have hoped for. As lively colour blocking fades into the distance interior designers are embracing pastel pallets ideal for freshening up our homes after the winter months. So, if you are after an understated and subtle statement this next collection is for you.
Forbo have created a new Modular range of vinyl flooring claiming originality with a twist. With 61 colours and various designs, you can create and play around with your flooring as they present four ‘expressions’; Shades, Colour, Marble, and Lines.
However you choose to use them, whether as a focus point in your home or simply an accent, the colour selection offers a fashionable collection of pastel colours ideal for fulfilling the design predictions of Spring 2015.
