It’s been a busy month as ever here at Rivendell, inbetween our new vans going out on the roads and our brand new wood studio (more on that soon) – we’ve been working on some fantastic projects. Whilst we love all the work we do for our clients, providing new carpeting for the popular TV show ‘the crystal maze’ was definitely up there with one of our favourite jobs!
Find out more about the products we used to create striking but functional flooring in the main reception area at channel 4’s crystal maze studio.
Creating An Entrance
The channel 4 studio required an eye-catching carpet in their main reception that was not only aesthetically pleasing, but also functional enough to withstand the daily volume of visitors and staff.
With this in mind, the Rivendell team opted to use Carpet Tiles to create this luxurious design. These functional tiles allow for designs like this to be created at a reasonable price. The product used for this project was Urban Carpet Tiles By JHS – using a complimentary selection of the many colours they have available to bring the room to life.
You can see the early stages of the project below – these separate tiles are one of the key benefits of using these carpet tiles, making for an easy replacement should a tile be damaged; something that is not uncommon in reception areas.
You can see the (almost) finished product below, with the final few carpet tiles ready to be put in place.
Finally, take a look at the finished project.
Carpet Tiles – Style And Substance
Carpet tiles have always been a popular choice in commercial venues such as schools and event halls for their versatility and durability, but are fast becoming the go-to choice for designers due to the infinite range of styles and colours. The main features of carpet tiles include:
Style Options – With the number of different styles and colours available, your design options are only as limited as your imagination when using carpet tiles.
Damage – As carpet tiles are made up of individual tiles, should one be damaged it can simply be replaced without needing to replace the entire carpet.
Sizes – As shown in our work here, carpet tiles don’t need to conform to one size or shape – this can also be an advantage when carpeting an awkwardly shaped room.
Cost – Whilst carpet tiles have a slightly higher base price when compared to regular carpets, tiles are purchased individually as opposed to a whole roll which can result in lower costs.
Eco-Friendly – The majority of newer carpet tiles are made from a high percentage of recyclable material – meaning they won’t go to waste at the end of their long life.
